Appointments

Appointments with the GP or Practice Nurse may be booked at reception in person or by telephone.

Repeat Prescriptions

Repeat prescriptions may be requested by post, telephone, fax, in person or by email. The re-order slip attached to computerised repeat prescriptions may be submitted and saves reception staff time. Postal requests should be made with a stamped, addressed envelope for return. Please leave 48 hours for repeat requests. A number of local pharmacies operate a prescription collection service from the surgery - please enquire at your usual pharmacy.

House Visits

Should you be too ill to attend the surgery please request a house visit by 10am on the day of request.

Out of Hours Medical Attention is provided by NHS 24

NHS 24 NHS 24 is a confidential telephone health advice and information service designed to meet your needs whatever time of day or night. The telephone number for NHS 24 is 08454 24 24 24 and should be called at all times when the surgery is closed at weekends, overnight and on public holidays.

New Patients - Permanent and Temporary

Please telephpone reception for enquiries.

Telephone Advice, Test Results and General Enquiries

We are keen to provide telephone advice when appropriate, if the person that you wish to speak to is not available at the time of your call you may be asked to call back later or provide a telephone number and time when you can be contacted. Regrettably the practice can not respond to e-mail enquiries of a medical nature but does welcome routine non-medical and administrative contacts in addition to repeat prescription requests.

Laboratory Specimens

Specimens collected for hospital laboratory analysis, such as stool and some urine tests should be properly labelled, carefully wrapped and handed in to reception before 3 pm.

Change of Address and other Details

It is important to allow us to keep our records up to date that you inform us if you change your name or address. It is also very useful to have a contact telephone number.

Locum Doctors

It is sometimes necessary to engage locum doctors to cover holiday and other absences from the practice. Locum Doctors are fully qualified General Practitioners and have full access to your medical records. In so far as possible we aim to employ the same locums on a regular basis.

Disabled Access

Disabled access is via the front entrance - doorways are wide enough to allow wheel chair access and there are no stairs to negotiate. Disabled toilet facilities are provided.

Travel To The Surgery

There is on-street metered parking (Mon - Fri, 8.30 am - 5.30 pm). Newington is well served by Public Transport. Rails for securing bicycles are available in the area adjacent to the surgery main entrance.
